The cause of such pain is most often microfractures and microtraumas of muscle tissue, as well as the excess lactic acid in the muscles. The destroyed muscular tissues get into the blood and are there until the body takes them out or restores them. Usually, the pain in the body lasts 2-3 days (for advanced athletes – a day) and serves as a sign that you have done an excellent job in the gym, says Jacob Bogatin.
There is another kind of muscle pain – lagging. It arises 2-3 days after training, most often in those cases when you have changed the program and the intensity. Last such pain can be about a week (for advanced athletes – 1-3 days), remarks Jacob Bogatin.
However, there is a third kind of pain – with muscle trauma. Most often occurs due to a muscle rupture, accompanied by a tumor, redness, increased pain during sudden movements, reports Jacob Bogatin.
